Maria is the Director of Demand Generation at RadiumOne and has over ten years of marketing experience in technology, financial services and retail/e-commerce sectors in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her focus areas are demand generation, digital marketing and sales enablement. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Hawai’i Pacific University and a Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Golden Gate University.
Luis is passionate about advocating human rights and supporting Latino, LGBT, and immigrant communities. In 2013, Luis was honored by President Obama during the Pride Reception at the White House, because Luis received the LGBT DREAMers Courage Award, honoring individuals who have shown courage and perseverance in the face of great injustice.
Marcel works as a Senior Analyst of Business Operations at Gilead Sciences. Born in Brazil of American and Brazilian parents, Marcel migrated to the US in the mid 90s. Raised in Rio de Janeiro with his mother and his older brother, Marcel grew up speaking Portuguese and conversational English. During the time he has been in the US, Marcel lived in major cities such as Seattle, Boston, and Los Angeles. He earned his Business Administration degree at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Marcel volunteers for ALPFA as a scout for executive speakers who can share their unique experiences as Latino leaders and serve as mentors to junior members.
Ari is a senior analyst at iStar where he help with building acquisitions. He is passionate about real estate and has never met a building he didn't like. Aside from this, Ari considers himself a yogi despite not being able to touch his toes.
Beto is originally from Los Angeles where he was raised in a very humbling community, but was fortunate enough to have role models that encouraged him to succeed. Beto attended UC Davis where he ultimately earned a Masters’ in Accounting and calls the Bay Area home now.
Beto Arellano is a highly motivated Senior Assurance Associate at RSM US LLP where he primarily serves clients in the Financial Services industry. Beto’s passion to help the community has encouraged him to become part of the Board in order to help empower students and young professionals with the knowledge and tools to become successful professionals.
This is Briana's first year on the professional board for ALPFA San Francisco. However, she helped co-found the Sacramento State Student chapter. Overall she has been involved with this organization for two and a half years. Briana graduated from Sac state with a degree in accounting and now works at PwC LLP as in Assurance Auditor. Briana joined ALPFA to get more involved with the community. She also wants to make an impact to help people have the opportunities and resources in order to succeed throughout their college and professional careers.
Luis is an Information Security, Compliance, and Privacy Professional working in various industries in the Bay Area. Luis was born in Venezuela, but moved to the US when he was less than a year old. His family settled in Petaluma, where he participated in local sports, boy scouts, and musical pursuits. Luis attended Sonoma State University, earning a B.A. in International Economics. He later received an M.S. in Information Security from the University of Boston.
Christy is a manager of Financial Reporting and Controls at Walmart Global eCommerce. She primarily supports Supply Chain, including reverse logistics, freight, shipping and fulfillment centers. She graduated from University of California, Riverside where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and minor in Economics. She relocated to the Bay Area after spending two years in Northwest Arkansas following college where she managed Close and Balance Sheet Controls for Walmart’s US, CA and PR businesses. Having been involved with ALPFA since college and throughout her career, Christy is excited to serve on the San Francisco board to give back in developing our community.
Daisy Castaneda is a Search Consultant, Head Hunter (Recruiter), for Accounting and Finance working Professionals. Daisy loves and enjoys her work as she helps make the recruiting process convenient for both the clients (Companies) and candidates (Accounting & Finance working Professionals) by coaching, mentoring, and being honest and forthright about opportunities. She previously worked at Deloitte where she gained the qualities and skills necessary to be successful in her current business. Daisy is passionate and loves life!
Garrett is currently an Associate in Commercial Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. In this role he is responsible for working closely with a client management team to cross-sell products within the commercial bank and provide financing to companies in the greater bay area.
Nelly is an Assurance Manager at RSM and focuses on providing services to financial service clients. Nelly is a self-starter, analytical, highly organized, and detail-oriented who works well under pressure and partners remarkably well with all levels, particularly the C-suite. Nelly has a passion for knowledge and growth and thoroughly enjoys establishing best practices and developing talent in order to best serve her clients.
Nelly previously served as Director of Corporate Affairs and Director of Student Affairs. Nelly has always been committed to organizations with a professional development and educational empowerment focus. She has served on the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement’s (HACE) Young Professional board and has held numerous volunteering positions for Chicago Scholars, Metro for Girls, Junior League, and has raised funds for ScholarMatch. Nelly currently serves as the Director of Community Affairs and is part of the National Steering Committee for RSM’s Hispanic employee network.
Mónica is an attorney practicing complex commercial litigation in San Francisco at Reed Smith LLP, a global law firm. Mónica is a first generation born Salvadorian-American and was raised in the Bay Area. She is proud of her heritage and is fortunate enough to work with clients internationally, including those with a presence in Latin America, on some of the most complex disputes facing multinational entities. She is strongly committed to diversity and raising the profile of Latinos in all professions.
Mónica earned her bachelor’s degree in Politics from the University of San Francisco and her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. For nearly a decade, she lived in Los Angeles before returning to her native city of Oakland. Her roots and commitment to the Bay Area are strong and she could not be happier to be back and working with ALPFA San Francisco.
Jordan recently joined the ALPFA, San Francisco board of directors in February of 2017. As the first generation in his family to graduate from college, he is passionate about influencing change within the Latino community through positive mentorship. He uses his experience as an NCAA football player to motivate at risk youth and teach them the skills necessary to always compete at the highest level in all aspects of life. In 2012 Jordan helped found the student chapter of ALPFA at the University of Redlands and served as the director of marketing and recruiting for 3 years.
Jordan graduated from the University of Redlands with a bachelor's of science in financial economics and accounting. He now works Morgan Stanley's wealth management division where he has been for about a year. Through his role in the community he is able to educate and inform others on the importance of financial literacy and long term planning. Aside from his involvement in corporate affairs and volunteer work Jordan is an avid fan of all Bay area sports teams. When he's not pursuing fitness or reading a good book he can usually be seen screaming his head off in support of the 49ers, warriors or giants and also catching the latest boxing or UFC fight.
Ricardo Valenciana, Director of Operations is a originally from Texas. After earning his MBA, he wanted to take on a challenging role that allowed him to make a positive impact on people's professional development. He found this by joining Robert Half’s Management Resources. In his role as Division Director, Ricardo helps people with one of the biggest decisions they face: where are they going to work next. By connecting people, his goal is to change their lives for the better.
