President - Charlene Lawson
Originally from Yuma, Arizona, Charlene Lawson is a CPA and Internal Auditor and Adjunct Accounting Professor. She has Bachelor’s of Science in Accountancy from Arizona State University and a Master’s of Science in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame. Lawson serves as ALPFA’s Executive Vice President. Outside of work, Charlene enjoys traveling and attending concerts.
Executive Vice President - Alexis Greer
Alexis Greer is a CPA and is an alum of The University of Arizona Eller College of Management. Alexis graduated in 2010 with his Masters in Accounting and Entrepreneurship and began his career in the Assurance practice at Ernst & Young in Phoenix. Alexis is now the Manager of Treasury and Compliance at Taser International and focuses on domestic and international treasury functions, as well as accounting special projects. Outside of work, Alexis enjoys travel and hanging out with his pet Boxer.
Vice President of IT/Communications - Alex Zayas
Mr. Zayas supports the Information Technology and Communications for ALPFA Phoenix. He brings over 10 years of experience in technology from the medical industry and also the supply chain industry. Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Technology and is currently pursuing his MBA in Management, both from Golden Gate University.
Director of Student Affairs - Bernadette Teran
Bernadette Teran is an Academic Success Specialist at Arizona State University. She provides support to current and prospective students for the College of Health Solutions at ASU’s downtown campus. Bernadette possesses approximately ten years of experience in student support services, as well as an undergraduate degree in communications and a graduate degree in adult education. Regarding her responsibilities as a board member of ALPFA, Bernadette is the Director of Student Affairs. She contributes her time by helping students get involved in ALPFA and by assisting student members with their professional development.
Vice President of Corporate Development - Saray Lopez
Saray Lopez is Assistant Dean of Community Outreach and Inclusion for the Office of Multicultural Affairs & Diversity at University of Phoenix. Prior to her joining the university Saray has over 8 years’ experience in building and designing competency-based education programs in a private liberal arts college and a community college setting, and before transitioning to higher education she worked in the international business sector. Saray has a Masters in Business Administration from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and French from Utah State University, currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership and Change from Antioch University. Outside of work, Saray enjoys traveling abroad and exploring different cultures.
Vice President of Marketing - Anaiis Ballesteros
Anaiis Ballesteros is currently Marketing Communications Coordinator for Helios Education Foundation. Ms. Ballesteros supports the marketing communications team in strategic communication development and marketing efforts in support of the Foundation’s strategic investment goals. She brings more than 7 years of professional marketing and communications experience in the non-profit and corporate sectors. Prior to joining Helios , Ms. Ballesteros was the Marketing Director for the Association for Supportive Child Care, where she coordinated and implemented the agency’s marketing and fundraising efforts. Anaiis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Arizona. As a first-generation Latina college student; she hopes to mentor and guide future Latino college grads and professional by serving as ALPFA – Phoenix Chapter, Vice President of Marketing.
Director of Marketing - Melissa Gamez
Melissa Gamez, an Arizona native and Arizona State University alum, is a marketer by trade and a leader at heart. She is currently the Director of Operations at Forte, a brand and space design agency. Ms. Gamez began her career in marketing and market research at ASU W.P Carey as a member of a marketing, business, and economics consulting firm. Her background in business analytics lead her to work for a local software company and ultimately begin consulting on her own with a variety of companies in the Phoenix Metro. Melissa is passionate about the Latino community and hopes to pay it forward by helping students get their careers started and achieve their own professional goals as ALPFA’s Director of Marketing. Outside of work Melissa is a runner, traveler and avid foodie.
Secretary- Jessica Pensky, CPA
Jessica Pensky graduated from the University of Arizona, Eller College of Management, in 2011 with her Bachelor in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, and in 2013 with her Master in Accounting. She then obtained her CPA license in the State of Arizona in 2014. Following her graduation, she joined Ernst & Young (“EY”) in their Phoenix Assurance practice, where she serves as an auditor for both private and public companies. During her time in college, she was a board member for the University of Arizona ALPFA chapter, as well as the Tucson Professional chapter, and subsequently joined the Phoenix ALPFA chapter as a professional. At EY, she serves as the Co-Chair for the Latino Professional Network and Vice-Chair for the Professional Women’s Network, where she is responsible for planning and coordinating all of the events for those networks in the Phoenix office.
