Luis Vargas’ background covers several industries, and disciplines within the marketing function. He has worked for companies such as Unilever, Walmart, Heinz, Novartis and Bayer in International marketing, new product development and innovation, category management, brand management and multicultural marketing. Prior to joining ALPFA he was also an entrepreneur. He helped foreign companies penetrate the US market, one of such being a Sri Lankan tea wholesaler, with a successful product line development and launch of a new brand of black and green tea for the US market, currently in distribution in 7000+ Family Dollar stores.
Luis was named “2011 Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Emerging Leader”, by Diversity MBA Magazine and is a member of the Corporate Executive Forum at the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR.org). Luis received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Universidad Católica Andres Bello in Caracas, Venezuela, and an MBA with emphasis in Marketing from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Luis has lived in 4 countries, and has traveled to 30+. He is a fitness enthusiast, active 3rd dan Taekwondo instructor at his local YMCA, experienced skydiver with 500+ jumps, and a world-traveled snowboarder.
