Welcome to the Women of ALPFA portal! We are excited that you are visiting us here to learn more about this important and impactful initiative for ALPFA. We all have an important role to play in learning how and taking action to support and advance Latinas in the U.S.
Fifteen years ago four women, members of ALPFA, (link with their picture and names) had a compelling vision to create a platform for Latinos to focus on unique needs, skills and sponsorship that Latinas may need to reach their full potential. Their work has helped us secure more seats at the table and advance to senior leadership roles in corporate America.
We have much to have pride in:
Women of ALPFA's programming has been delivered annually across 41 chapters nationally, advancing our agenda and building a legacy of Latina leadership.
Over 50%of ALPFA members are Latina
This year, ALPFA collaborated with Fortune Magazine to publish the Top 50 Most Powerful Latinas in corporate America, a first of its kind drawing attention to the impact and contributions of Latinas.
Latinas have increasing economic impact, drawing attention as a vital client segment in this country. Latinas have made dramatic gains in education: college enrollment rates among female Hispanics graduating from high school now outpace both non-Hispanic whites and African-Americans. Seventy-four percent of Latinas who graduated high school in 2012-2014 are now enrolled in college, higher than non-Hispanic whites (73%) and African-Americans (65%)-- this, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. Higher education level coupled with bi-cultural interests is driving positive economic results, increasing household income and greater household expenditures.1 (footnote)
As we turn the corner and look ahead to the next fifteen years, we continue to focus on paving the way for Latinas in the U.S. to drive greater advancement and representation. We have exciting new programming on entrepreneurship, financial empowerment, and powerful networks to help Latinas further hone their skills and leverage our platform to collaborate, inspire and drive change.
As the Chair of the Corporate Advisory Board, 2017 Top 50 Most Powerful Latina, a corporate executive and a mother, I feel ecstatic about our future and what we will do-- together! ¡Juntas!
