Under the direction of the chapter president Andres Reza, the ALPFA Twin Cities team bolstered inactive membership. Reza said the team came together to effectively build momentum to drive results. From 2013 to 2015 membership spiked from a handful of people to more than 200 active members.
When asked how Andres and his team were able to accomplish this under two years, he mentioned three key points:
- The tremendous response within the community. “Solidifying sponsorship created a testimonial and built the momentum we needed. From there community interest had a snowball effect that lead to our membership growth.”
- None of this would have been possible without the amazing support of the Twin Cities leadership team. “My team has worked countless hours on end. With projects, event planning and last tasks essential to make our chapter successful.”
- the support and direction of our Midwest Regional Director, Cesar Lostaunau. “He provided the insight we needed from a national perspective.”
Reza recounts that the benefit of a recent visit from Cesar Lostaunau to the community was two-fold. “Cesar arrived and we were able to group the team together. He offered much needed feedback on best practices and ways to execute projects,” Reza said. “This helped the team to rethink processes and find constructive ways to approach their challenges. We decided to focus our time on business and on students.”
“We were able to utilize Cesar’s time with us as an opportunity to increase sponsorship. The following day we had four potential sponsors lined up. During the round tables, Cesar presented the value of partnering with ALPFA from a national perspective. While I was able to provide insight from a local Twin Cities point of view.
“I am happy to report that as a result of these meetings, Twin Cities was able to secure an additional $6,000 in revenue as well as the sponsorship of a new partner.”
“We also made it a point to include one of our student members, Dylan Brooks in conversation. He spoke before our corporate sponsors regarding the benefits of ALPFA, highlighting the connection between students and our professional leaders.
“One of our sponsors was so impressed that a recruiter requested to speak to Dylan regarding a potential job opportunity. Pretty impressive!”
Overall, it was an excellent exchange. The recent visit from Cesar has re-invigorated the team. With this newfound motivation Twin Cities anticipates a great 2016!
