Thank you ALPFA Charlotte for inviting the Master of Accounting Program with UNC Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School to the 2017 ALPFA Southeast Regional Collegiate Symposium.
My name is Stephanie Robertson, and I’m the Associate Director of Admissions and Diversity Initiatives for the MAC Program. I got a chance to host a session titled “Accounting is Cooler Thank You Think” in which ALPFA members were able to hear more about the cool jobs you can get with an accounting background. Some of our MAC graduates include a controller at a start-up brewing company, a senior accounting manager at Amazon, the CFO of Spanx, and the president of a successful outdoor clothing company, to name just a few. We also discussed the cool places you can go with an accounting degree and highlighted one of our MAC graduates who is a partner at a Big 4 in Melbourne, Australia. An accounting background really can take you anywhere!
Our 15-month on-campus program is open to non-accounting majors, and our online program (which you can do in 15-36 months) accepts students from any academic major. For more information, please check out this link. For rising sophomores or juniors who would like to delve deeper into the accounting profession, you should apply to our Accounting Mentorship Program. Students are paired with an accountant from Dixon Hughes Goodman who will be your mentor throughout the program. The program consists of online workshops that include resume building, social media branding, networking, and more. There is a welcome event and a closing Leadership Immersion, both of which are hosted at Chapel Hill (all expenses paid). Seeherefor more information. For any questions you have about the MAC Program or our AMP Mentorship Program, please feel free to reach out to me directly firstname.lastname@example.org.
