10th Annual Leadership Summit

Personal Branding is a Leadership Requirement - Not a Self - Promotion Campaign

On Thursday, March 17th ALPFA New Jersey led their 10th Annual Leadership Summit hosted proudly by one of their gold sponsors - Johnson and Johnson (J&J). The theme this year focused on re-evaluating, redefining and improving one’s personal brand. In short, our attendees were encouraged to look beyond the “cookie cutter way of thinking” and challenged to re-brand themselves.

After our networking session,  Gary W. Fair, Chief Audit Executive and VP of J&J, kicked off the event by delivering an impeccable and needless to say, an attention grabbing speech that captivated the audience. As a sought after speaker on the topics of leadership, a past recipient of the J&J Affirmative Action & Equal Opportunity Award and as an active community volunteer having held multiple high level positions for several nonprofit organizations - it was an honor for Gary W. Fair to share his thoughts on the importance of building a personal brand.

As the evening continued, our attendees had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion. Our panelists included Priscilla Cunza Marin - Portfolio Holding Team Leader for Bloomberg LP, Sandra Garcia - VP of Annuities Business Information Protection for Prudential Financial, Roberto Marrero - Financial Manager for J&J and last but certainly last least, our Panelist Moderator, Gena Pemberton - Senior Finance Manager for J&J.

Throughout the event, and in the midst of laughs, smiles and the occasional “aha moment,” our attendees challenged themselves and according to our Chapter President, Sergio Manacho, many of us “peeled the onion” in order to truly understand how our personal brand can empower and transform our career.

We would like to thank and recognize our strategic partners, board members and student chapters for their on-going support of ALPFA’s mission and vision. This was yet another successful event and we are proud to have you within our ALPFAfamilia!
