Welcome to our page where we list the open volunteer roles which we are seeking. At ALPFA's Chicago chapter, volunteering is a great way to hone your leadership qualities and skills. By signing on as a volunteer you commit to hold yourself accountable to the standards of professional communication and development. You will have the opportunity to build your credibility and add value, while expanding on skills that may be outside of your expertise.

MEMBERSHIP TEAM 

Membership Committee

 As a Membership Committee member, you may be asked to assist in: Preparing reports detailing membership demographics and monthly membership status reports. Must have good Excel experience. Work on different membership related projects and serve as liaison between other committees within ALPFA Chicago. Reaching out to expired or soon-to-expire members via email and/or phone call to encourage renewed membership. Increasing ALPFA Chicago’s membership by assisting in organizing membership drives and serve as ALPFA Ambassador at ALPFA and Community events. 

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS TEAM

Digital Media Strategist

The Digital Media Strategists will work closely with the Director of Communications and Email Editors. Working with editors to set priorities and strategy on having information in the website and across social media channels. He/She will also ensure that engagement is consistent across any communities they engage with on behalf of the chapter online. He/She will develop timelines and priority list for the Webmaster and any Graphics Designer and bring on additional volunteers when needed, ensuring they go through the proper onboarding process. He/She will develop the Social Media calendar and partner with the Midwest and national team when needed. He/She will provide reports on what is effective and generating the most interest, and share with the Email Editors in reusing content across email as well when appropriate. He/She will ensure the flow from promotion to conversion is optimized where possible, and make suggestions and recommendations for any possible changes.

  • Communicating with the Director of Communications on priorities
  • Ensuring the Content Strategy Statement is adhere too, and recommend evolving, when needed
  • Develop the Social media strategy and timeline
  • Collaborate with Webmaster and Graphics Designers to ensure the flow from promotion online to page is optimized for conversion rates.

 


Monthly Newsletter & Events Reminder Developer & Editor

The Monthly Newsletter Editor will work closely with the Director of Communications in ensuring the Monthly Newsletters are delivered with quality and timeliness. Editors are responsible for maintaining consistency, readability and accuracy. Editors manage the content creation process, and manage any additional editors they bring on. The editor will proofread text and improve its clarity, spelling and punctuation. Generates article ideas and researching and coordinating its content. Collaborate with the Director of Communications & other board members to ensure any changes or benefits to members are appropriately communicated. Verify the Content Strategy Statement is adhered to. Develop and build relationships within professional and student leaders to help facilitate gathering relevant content. This involves creating a long-term editorial calendar that details assigning articles, layout order, editorials, photography and graphics. The platform used is Mailchimp.


 

Event Emails Developer & Editor

The Event Emails Develop & Editor will work closely with the Director of Communications and the VP of Events & Operations to ensure that emails are delivered with quality and timeliness. There are three emails that are sent for every event: Single Event Invitation Email, Registree Reminder of their registration for the event with Logistics, and Post-event E-Mail.

This role requires high collaboration with all parties involved in an event, to include: Director of Communications, Corporate Development, Membership, Operations, VP of Events team, Photographers, Digital Media Strategist, Webmaster, Graphics Designers, Monthly Newsletter & Events Editor. He/She is responsible for maintaining consistency, readability and accuracy. The editor will proofread text and improve its clarity, spelling and punctuation. Develop Event Survey Feedback and ensure photos are appropriately upload to the chapters Flick Account. They will verify the Content Strategy Statement is adhered to. The platform used is Mailchimp.
