ALPFA Chicago members and friends:

We hope you are off to a great start to the new year!

We wrapped up 2016 with both excitement and challenges for the ALPFA Chicago Chapter.  Our membership grew by 18%, and we currently have approximately 4,000 members (professionals and students combined) yet our goal is to accelerate to 10,000 members by the end of 2017.  Nationally, ALPFA has a target goal of 1 million members by 2020 and we expect to contribute significantly.  Importantly, we have now engaged some of the most senior local Latino leaders in business, government, and the community to be a part of our new Senior Leadership Council (SLC).  Most recently, we appointed Allstate VP of Strategy & Operations, Miguel Edwards, to our ALPFA Chicago Office of The President (OTP) team as our Chief Operating Officer.

Our 44th Annual ALPFA Convention held in Dallas, Texas last August was a huge success. We had over 2,500 ALPFA members attend from our professional and student chapters nationwide, and 150 were from Chicago.  At the convention, Beatriz Rangel, ALPFA Chicago past  leader, was honored with the Servant Leadership Award; our University of Illinois (UIC) ALPFA student chapter received the Chapter of the year Award; The University of Notre Dame ALPFA student chapter won the KPMG case competition; and I was surprised with ALPFA’s Life Time Achievement Award.  More importantly, our corporate partners and recruiters were pleased and offered several internships and career opportunities to some well deserving ALPFA student members.  If you did not get the chance to join us this year, we hope you will be able to make it to our 45th Annual ALPFA Convention August 6-10, 2017 at Caesar’s Palace Convention Hall in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lastly, all eyes will be on Chicago this year as we take steps to implement our new organizational leadership structure and growth targets. Charlie Garcia, ALPFA’s CEO, has recognized Chicago as the benchmark on setting the stage for a successful transition and Chapter leadership.

On behalf of the entire Office of the President (OTP) team, which includes COO Miguel Edwards, Chief of Staff Cesar Lostaunau, Chief PMO Demetrio Garcia, Corporate Liaison & Director of Chapter Operations Mona Asra, and your Senior Leadership Council (SLC) & Operational Leadership Committee (OLC) teams, we look forward to seeing you at our 2017 events.

Thank you for your continued support of ALPFA Chicago!
